Jose Norberto Mazón

About

Jose-Norberto Mazón is full professor in the Department of Software and Computing Systems at the University of Alicante. He is also a member of the WaKe research group and he belongs to the University Institute for Research in Computer Science and to the University Institute for Research in Tourism. His research work focuses on open data management and data spaces, data integration and business intelligence in smart tourism destinations and the design of data-intensive web applications. In addition, he has participated in R&D projects on smart tourism destinations and smart cities with special emphasis on open data management and data spaces; as well as in open science projects such as the Spanish Network on Open Research Data (MAREDATA) and the European Open Science Cloud Association (EOSC, https://eosc.eu/) at the working group on data and service interoperability. He has published his research in international journals such as Machine Learning, IEEE Software, Decision Support Systems, Information Sciences, Data & Knowledge Engineering, ACM Transaction on the Web or Current Issues in Tourism. In addition, he has taught courses and workshops on the concept of reuse of public sector information and the innovative opportunities that open data ecosystems provide for a tourism destination. He is currently principal investigator of the Research Laboratory of Smart Tourism (TI-LAB, https://lab.turismodetorrevieja.com/) where he leads the line of work on open data management and data spaces for tourism. He is co-founder of InferIA (https://inferia.io/), a spin-off of the University of Alicante dedicated to data search and discovery.
